Technicians of New Mexico is the result of a collaborative effort involving many stakeholders who are deeply invested in the success of New Mexico's technical workforce. Without their support, Technicians of New Mexico wouldn't be possible without their active participation and support.
New Mexico's employers, educators, and workforce leaders recognized a persistent and growing gap: the state's key industries could not find enough qualified technicians, and too many workers lacked access to the pathways that would connect them to well-paying careers. Traditional outreach wasn't working, a new approach was needed.
After feedback from employers and educators across New Mexico, Technicians of America and founding sponsor Innovate+Educate launched an initiative to address two key challenges: improving the perception of technical careers and increasing the supply of skilled workers. They found that traditional engagement methods weren’t reaching younger audiences, prompting research into more innovative ways to make technical careers more accessible and appealing statewide.
Innovate+Educate, a Santa Fe-based nonprofit with over two decades of expertise in skills-based hiring and workforce equity, partnered with Technicians of America™, a national initiative dedicated to elevating the technical workforce. Together, and in partnership with Unmudl's Skills-to-Jobs® Marketplace, they launched Technicians of New Mexico to serve the state's learners, workers, and employers.
Technicians of New Mexico is rapidly expanding its network of employer partners, training providers, and community colleges. The platform is designed to grow with the state's economy, creating a durable, scalable ecosystem that continues to elevate technical careers for generations of New Mexico workers.
